IELTS Vocabulary For Climate Change

Climate change is a change in weather patterns when that change lasts for a long period of time. In IELTS and another English test, you could expect a test regarding climate changes. But it is not a common question. But still, you could expect this question either in speaking part of IELTS exam or in essay writing. So what we should do. The best way is to prepare yourself for this question with all the possible vocabularies and sentences to address this topic.

I will try to explain each of them.

Environmental:

Relating to the natural world and the impact of human activity on its condition.

Related words:

  3. Environmentally.
  4. Environmentalism.

Examples :

  • We are facing so many environmental issues like global warming, Overpopulation and Waste Disposal.
  • Ocean acidification is also an environmental issue we need to address.

Collocation: 

  1. Environmental problem.
  2. Environmental issues.
  3. Environmental damage.
  4. Environmental protections.
  5. Environmental issue.
  6. Environmental impact.

Ecosystem:

It is a biological community of interacting organisms and their physical environment.

Collocation: 

  1. Marine Ecosystem
  2. Destroy an ecosystem
  3. Protect an ecosystem.

Dispose:

Get rid of by throwing away or giving or selling to someone else that you don’t want to keep.

Collocation: 

  1. Dispose of.
  2. Dispose of water.
  3. Waste disposal.

Risk:

Expose to danger, harm, or loss in future.

Collocation: 

  1. Take a risk.
  2. Increase risk.
  3. Reduce the risk.
  4. Minimize risk.
  5. Run the risk.
  6. High risk.

Harm:

An action coursing damage.

Examples:

  • People don’t care whether it is making any harm to the environment.
  • There are so many laws relating to pollution and environmental harm.

Collocation:

  1. Harm environment.
  2. Cause harm to.
  3. Do Harm.
